Minister of Music
Peter Boak moved to Martha’s Vineyard as a resident in 1994, after vacationing all the previous summers of his life here. He earned his undergraduate degree from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ in 1973, and a Master of Sacred Music degree from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX in 1983, where he graduated magna cum laude.
During his 25 years at the Federated Church, he and the choir have travelled to Europe four times, singing concerts in England, Scotland, Wales, France, Switzerland, Italy, and Ireland.
He is also the Director of the Island Community Chorus, a position he has held since 1996.
Peter lives in Oak Bluffs with his father and with his two cats, Ichabod and Eulalie. And we mustn’t forget Miss Sadie, the Great Dane!
Jan Hyer came to live on Martha's Vineyard in 1993 from Rockland County, NY, having spent many vacations here over the years. Jan is an integral part of the ongoing operations of the church and is in the office most mornings. She is an accomplished cellist, performing regularly on the island and gives lessons.
